Two TNI soldiers who served in the 10th Arhanud Battalion/ABC Kodam Jaya almost became a victim of robbery conducted by nine people in Kebayoran Baru, Saturday (7/5).
In a written statement shared by the official Instagram account @kodam_jayakarta, it was stated that the two soldiers managed to carry out self-defense efforts, fighting against the pressure of the gangsters on the streets.
“Nine robbers targeted two soldiers on their way back to Battalion Arhanud 10/ABC Kodam Jaya,” wrote the statement on the Instagram account quoted Monday (10/5).
Kodam Jaya stated that the incident began when the two soldiers finished shopping for the unit’s kitchen needs at the Kebayoran Baru Market, Jakarta.
The two of them then passed the road around SMPN 29 South Jakarta and were grabbed by several motorbikes. They are suspected of wanting to commit robbery and stop the motorbike being driven by TNI soldiers.
“One of the perpetrators tried to throw stones at members but was avoided,” he explained.
TNI members also fought back by kicking one of the motorbikes until it finally fell. One person suspected of being a robber was immediately taken into custody by a soldier who almost became a victim.
Meanwhile, the other perpetrators managed to escape. The legal process was then handed over to the Kebayoran Baru Police.
The Kodam suspects that the perpetrators of the robbery act were under the influence of liquor or alcohol.
