Two members of the Indonesian House of Representatives from West Sumatra (West Sumatra), Andre Rosiade and Guspardi Gaus, criticized the culinary business typical of Minangkabau who sells rendang menu made from pork.
Previously, the emergence of a typical Minangkabau culinary business selling pork rendang menu was crowded on social media (social media). The culinary business is said to be located in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.
Andre revealed that the culinary business had caused unrest in the Minang community because it sold food prepared from pork.
“I’ve heard about restaurants in Jakarta that make Minang people nervous. This is because the restaurant processes pork into dishes in the form of rendang,” said Andre when confirmed CNNIndonesia.comFriday (10/6).
He conveyed, many Minang people protested with the pork rendang, the rendang sold by the culinary business. The daily chairman of the Minang Family Association (IKM) DPP also appealed to the culinary business to eliminate Minang elements and no longer sell pork rendang.
“We at the IKM DPP have received complaints from people throughout Indonesia. For that we urge the restaurant entrepreneur to change the name of the restaurant, not to relate to Minang elements,” said Andre.
He reminded that selling pork rendang is not in accordance with Minangkabau values, which have the traditional philosophy of ‘basandi syarak, syarak basandi Kitabullah’ which is synonymous with Islamic values. According to the Deputy of Gerindra, rendang, which is a Minang specialty, cannot be separated from this philosophy.
“While the person concerned is selling the value of pork, of course it is not identical to the value of Minangkabau. We appeal to the entrepreneur to change the name of the restaurant and do not sell pork rendang,” said Andre.
“Rendang is a typical Minang food. For that we urge you not to produce pork rendang,” he continued.
Separately, Guspardi Gaus admitted that he was surprised and very concerned to hear the news of a typical Minangkabau culinary business selling pork rendang. According to him, Nasi Padang with various menus is a culinary product from Minangkabau which should have halal status.
Guspardi reminded, the actions of the culinary business owners cannot be justified and allowed.
“What is the purpose and motive of the restaurant owner providing non-halal food using the typical Minangkabau menu name?” he said.
Guspardi continued, the Minangkabau community, the majority of whom are Muslims, has a traditional philosophy of basandi syarak, syarak basandi kitabullah. According to him, the use of the name of a non -halal Minangkabau food menu is an insult and hurts the feelings of the Minangkabau people.
The PAN politician also suspected that the culinary business owner was using and supporting the fame of Minangkabau food for business, but by ignoring ethics and destroying the traditions and image of Minangkabau cuisine, as well as violating the customs and culture of the Minangkabau community.
“The use of Minangkabau identity in the menu of non-halal Padang cuisine is clearly unusual and unacceptable,” he said.
On that basis, Guspardi asked the culinary business owner that apologized for the rudeness of using the name and identity of Minang with a menu of foods made from pork. He also asked the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to immediately revoke the business license of the culinary business owner.
“The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also expected to revoke the business license using that name. Don’t forget to ask the Ministry of Information and Information (Kominfo) to also act by blocking all social media accounts of the restaurant, before causing chaos and chaos,” he said.
CNNIndonesia.com have not been able to contact the Nasi Padang Babi culinary business in the Kelapa Gading area of Jakarta.
