Members of the Golden Age in Saint-Étienne

Friday March 25 was the beginning of an active life within the Golden Age club which made a daily outing to Saint-Étienne.

Very early in the morning, all those registered, around fifty despite a few last-minute defections, boarded the bus waiting for them, the joy of a revival lit up their faces.

René Rousset, the organizer with his usual kindness, was accompanied by several members of the office with whom he shares the various tasks, a team effort.

The program was mainly focused on discovering the world of museums, it’s incredible all the riches that are kept there, from their origins to the present day.

Saint-Étienne is home to five main museums, the Musée des Verts, which traces the history of the city’s famous football club, the Museum of Mining, Art and Industry, and that of Old Saint-Étienne.

The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, 3,000 m2 of exhibition space, houses more than 20,000 works including 1,500 design pieces and ancient art.

All participants were very interested in the guided tour. They discovered the three collections offered to them, including those devoted to weapons, cycles and ribbon at the Museum of Art and Industry. The whole thing turned out to be fascinating and very instructive.

Obviously, the one that is part of all the outings and which allows you to get together to exchange comments and impressions, which are different for everyone, is an excellent meal served at the restaurant du Moulin, in Caloire. Stomachs and taste buds were satisfied.

To end the day in style, before returning to Lozère, a visit to the Firefighters Museum in Firminy put an end to this beautiful day. But there will be many more now, which are already planned for the days and months to come. Trips, day trips, meals, parties and competitions…
