Staff members of the health network unionized with the FSSS have “massively” adopted the agreement in principle reached with Quebec, the union said on Wednesday.
The Federation of Health and Social Services (FSSS-CSN) had reached an agreement in principle with the government after a strike of a few hours on June 21.
On Wednesday, the union reported the adoption of the agreement, “at the end of a wide tour of general meetings which has been held in recent weeks.”
According to the union, the agreement in principle is the result of nearly a year and a half of talks with the Legault government to renew the collective agreements for their members in the public sector which must apply from April 1, 2020 to March 31. 2023.
“From the start of this round of negotiations, we set ourselves the objective of improving the conditions of those who earn the least in the network and we can say that it is mission accomplished! », Indicated by press release Josée Marcotte, vice-president of the FSSS-CSN.
The adoption of the agreement in principle “confirms the implementation of substantial improvements both in terms of working conditions and salary conditions which will have a positive impact for all employees in the network”, adds the union, which reports salary increases “which will vary between 10.4% and 6.1%, and will be applied for the three years of the collective agreement”.
There is also a question of an employer contribution for group insurance which “will be made sustainable and tripled”.
The union specifies that discussions will continue with the employers in various working committees in order to put in place a series of necessary solutions, “in particular in order to respond to the problems of attracting and retaining staff”.
The FSSS-CSN says it has more than 120,000 members in the public and private sectors and in all categories of personnel in the health network.
The Government of Quebec has reached an agreement in principle with most of the unions in the public sector, but several organizations have yet to make a decision.
During the general council of July 13 and 14, the delegates of the Alliance of professional and technical personnel in health and social services (APTS) resolved to present the government’s overall offer “without recommendation” in the context of ‘a tour of special general assemblies (AGS). These should only be held from mid-September.
