Angela Kuiper and Wilfred Lauwen are retiring as Members of Parliament of the BBB. They resigned themselves, the party said on Monday. “It is not yet known what their other plans are,” the BBB statement said. Lauwen told Omroep Brabant that he does not agree with that statement from party leader John Frenken. The two do not give their seats back to the party, and therefore stay in the States.
It is not clear why the members resigned, according to the press release. Angela Kuiper was not available for comment on Monday morning, Wilfred Lauwen said he was not happy with the message from the party. “The agreement was that we would come out together with this news and how and why, but apparently the director of the group has now made a different decision,” he says. that he will return to the matter later.
The BBB won 11 seats in the state elections last year. Thus the BBB became the largest party in the States of Brabant. But BBB ended up outside the coalition.
Director General
Wilfred Lauwen from Rucphen was number 10 on the list for BoerBurgerBeweging (BBB). In everyday life he is the main leader. According to him, he ended up in politics completely unexpectedly last year.
“The polls showed the BBB at six or seven seats. If things got crazy, we might get eight,” explained Wilfred. “So I assumed I was ineligible.”
