Members of Commission I Unethical Values DKI Provincial Government Asks for Donations to Foreign Ambassadors

Jakarta

Member Commission I DPR RI, TB Hasanuddin assessed the action DKI Jakarta Provincial Government sending letters asking for donations to foreign embassies in Jakarta is unethical. Although it has been withdrawn, TB Hasanuddin is still surprised because the central government has poured funds for handling COVID-19.

“Yes, I am following this case, this is clearly unethical, let alone by a government agency,” said TB Hasanuddin when contacted, Friday (2/7/2021).

The letter bearing the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government logo containing a request for an invitation to the ambassadors to contribute to filling the furniture at the Nagrak Cilincing Flat, North Jakarta so as to take part in fulfilling the need for the extension of the COVID-19 handling hospital in Jakarta has now been withdrawn. Even so, TB Hasanuddin was still surprised.

“So far, the central government has poured funds for the purpose of handling Covid. Why do we still have to ask for donations from foreign embassies,” he said.

He also believes that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has apologized for the letter requesting the donation. However, he did not understand the purpose of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government asking for donations.

“You have to ask the provincial government, I don’t know. When I withdraw the letter, usually I’m sorry,” he said.

PDIP DKI Asks Provincial Government Not to Beg Mentally

The chairman of the PDIP faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Gembong Warsono, also regretted the attitude of the DKI Provincial Government regarding letters requesting donations to foreign ambassadors. He called the DKI Provincial Government mental like a beggar.

“Yes, if I am the provincial government, don’t have a beggar mentality, to friendly countries again,” said Gembong when contacted, Friday (2/7/2021).

Gembong did not question if the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government invited DKI Jakarta residents to collaborate hand in hand to face the COVID-19 pandemic. However, according to him, it would be unethical if the request was addressed to a guest country in Indonesia.

“In principle, don’t have a beggar mentality, don’t be a beggar mentality, if the language is once again a collaboration that the provincial government wants to create but collaboration with residents, elements of the citizens of the capital city. Sort it out, don’t ask just anyone, we ask for guest countries, right? It’s unethical,” he said.

Gembong assessed that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s budget for handling the COVID-19 pandemic should be sufficient. “From the budget allocation, I think it’s sufficient, if it’s not enough, just talk to the DPRD. If it’s not enough, just talk to the DPRD and a few weeks ago I said, the Provincial Government if there are budget difficulties, please do refocusing. there are no instructions, but the provincial government can submit. This is a humanitarian matter, I don’t think the Ministry of Home Affairs will make it difficult for the provincial government, I think so too,” he said.
