Member of the Riigikogu Center Party faction, former Narva Mayor Aleksei Jevgrafov joined the Center Party.
Chairman of the Center Party Jüri Ratas said that the joining of Aleksei Yevgrafov is a welcome and logical step. “The Riigikogu faction of the Center Party has worked unitedly and together in a very difficult spring period, and I am glad that this work has given me additional confidence that it is the Center Party that is the force that stands for the necessary principles and decisions both today and in the future,” said Ratas.
He added that the joining of Jevgrafov, who works in the Rural Affairs Committee, gives the party even more competence in the regional field, especially in Ida-Virumaa, of course. “Jevgrafov’s experience and work in Narva and Ida-Virumaa will undoubtedly give the party more strength in these regions, including in the context of local government elections.”
Aleksei Jevgrafov, who joined the Center Party, said that the party has always stood up for the interests of Ida-Virumaa and made real decisions that improved the well-being of the people of the region. “Even today we clearly see that there is a difference between politics and political parties. The current government parties have shown that the promises are not valid and the adopted decisions are clearly worsening people’s ability to cope. Such politics must be resisted and the Center Party is such a force,” said Jevgrafov.
Aleksei Jevgrafov ran as a candidate on the list of the Central Party in Ida-Virumaa.
