The member of the Central Committee of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Gideon Santos, resigned from this political organization, as reported Friday.
In a tweet posted to his account (@GedeonSantosR), he said “I make public my decision to renounce the status of a member of the PLD that for 40 uninterrupted years I have held. The reasons that led me to do so are set out in my most recent article, published in the newspaper Listín Diario. ”

On Tuesday, February 4, the journalist Gedeón Santos also wrote in an article published in LISTÍN DIARIO, entitled “The historical breakdown and the lost direction of the PLD”, the reasons why he considers that the Dominican Liberation Party was developing “ a maze of divisions and darkness ”.
“In spite of this evident party crisis, we were making good governments, thanks mainly to the fact that the presidents on duty led a correct vision of development and that there were still leaders with impetus of change and decency that did not surrender to pragmatism and money ”, He says in one of the paragraphs of the article.
In October 2019, the president of the Republic Danilo Medina dismissed Gideon Santos as permanent representative of the country before the Organization of American States (OAS).
In decree 342-19, he indicates that diplomat and lawyer Josué Antinoe Fiallo was appointed instead.
Gideon Santos has held positions as Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs for economic affairs and for administrative matters during the period of government 1996-2000; Deputy before the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) from 2004 to 2013; President of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) and President of the Inter-American Telecommunications Commission (CITEL / OAS).
