Member of the Bundestag Gabriele Katzmarek reports 759 subsidized housing units – In Baden-Baden, the town hall is only hesitantly following suit

Baden-Baden, 13.08.2024, Report: Editorial staff If the Baden-Baden town hall had also thought of average earners when planning the large housing projects in the city center, various support measures from Berlin and Stuttgart would have been even more effective.

A housing policy for the socially disadvantaged is not on the agenda in the inner city of Baden-Baden. To this day, the Baden-Baden SPD has not raised a voice for social justice when it matters.

The report from Gabriele Katzmarek’s office dated August 12, 2024, verbatim:

In the first half of 2024, the Kreditbank für Wiederaufbau (KfW) funded 759 residential units in the Rastatt district and the urban district of Baden-Baden. A total of 32 million euros was spent on this.

“It is a good sign and I am pleased that significant funding was again awarded in my constituency this year,” commented Bundestag member Gabriele Katzmarek on KfW’s half-year report for her constituency. “The number of subsidized housing units is almost three times as high as in the first half of 2023. The funds were also used to support numerous projects that serve environmental and climate protection. They all provide some relief on the housing market, for example through age-appropriate conversions, and they advance the necessary energy transition,” emphasises the MP.

In the Rastatt district, the KfW has supported 636 housing units with loans totaling 24 million euros, and in the urban district of Baden-Baden, 123 housing units with 8 million euros. “In this way, the KfW is not only supporting housing construction and renovation, but also the local construction industry and German industry. In addition, small and medium-sized businesses and municipalities can implement necessary projects with the help of KfW grants and loans,” says the SPD economic expert.
