Makassar – Police arrested three men who allegedly threatened and prohibited building materials shop owners from selling in Makassar City, South Sulawesi (Sulsel). One of the men who was suspected of being a member of the Pancasila Youth mass organization apologized for his actions.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for the Makassar Police, Commissioner Devi Sujana, confirmed this. A video of the alleged perpetrator’s apology circulated on social media.
“It has been (secured). It has been shared,” said Devi detikSulselSunday (17/3/2024).
The three suspected perpetrators have been questioned at the Makassar Police. However, Devi did not specify the identities of the three men who were arrested and has apologized.
In the video circulating, three men are seen who are suspected of being the perpetrators of the threat. One of the men wearing a green cap spoke accompanied by two men beside him.
“I apologize profusely,” said the man whose identity was not yet known in the video quoted on Sunday (17/3).

The man admitted that he had no intention of making statements containing elements of ethnicity, religion, taste and intergroup (SARA) towards the shop owner. He reiterated that there was no intention of provocation.
“My mistake yesterday was related to the problem on Jalan Cendrawasih (Jalan Opu Daeng Risadju) in front of a building shop and there was no intention to provoke, bring up ethnicity and race, there was none,” said the man.
As previously reported, the incident occurred in front of a shophouse in the Pasar Senggol area, Jalan Opu Daeng Risadju, Mamajang District, Saturday (16/3) afternoon. This case is thought to have been triggered by a parking problem in front of the shophouse.
“As for blackmail, there isn’t any. There was a parking problem, between the shop owner and the 3 people who held the land in front of the shop,” said Devi when confirmed.
According to Devi, the land in front of the shophouse was rented out by the three men to other people. Meanwhile, the three men said that the parking area was disturbed when the shophouse operated at night.
“Yes, that’s all his motive. So he holds the parking lot, rents out the public sector land in front of the shophouse. So that the shophouse is open, automatically the time for the leased land might be disturbed, right,” he added.
Prohibit Selling at Night
It is known that the incident was caught on camera and the video went viral on social media. In the video circulating, several men can be seen standing on the side of the road and one of them is wearing a green cap and wearing a uniform with the Pancasila Youth pattern.
The man threatened to deflate the shop owner’s vehicle tires if the shop owner was still selling at night. He was even heard shouting at the shop owner because the shop owner responded to his words.
“If it’s after curfew, give me a flat tire. There are no building materials stores open until late at night. There aren’t any. You ji,” said the man wearing the hat.
The shop owner was heard getting into an argument with the man. The man then admitted that he was part of the Pancasila Youth organization.
“This is Pemuda Pancasila. Do you want to fight Pemuda Pancasila? This is the biggest mass organization in Makassar City,” said the man in the video.
