Member of the Republic of Indonesia DPR Faction NasDem Sugeng Suparwoto was complained to the DPR Honorary Council (MKD) on suspicion sexual harassment verbal. The Indonesian Parelemen Caring Community Forum or Formappi strongly criticized Sugeng Suparwoto’s actions.
This criticism was conveyed by Formappi Researcher Lucius Karus. He initially expressed his appreciation for the victims who dared to come to the MKD DPR to report Sugeng Suparwoto.
“We respect the victim’s initiative to go directly to the MKD to report an alleged violation of the code of ethics in the form of sexual harassment from a member of the DPR,” said Lucius when contacted, Friday (9/6/2023).
Lucius said sexual harassment was a crime that could not be taken lightly so that the perpetrators received appropriate sanctions and punishments. In addition, he considered it really embarrassing for members of the DPR to carry out this action.
“Acts of sexual harassment are crimes that cannot be taken lightly. Because of that, I think the perpetrators of sexual harassment should also receive appropriate sanctions and punishments,” he said.
“For members of the DPR, acts of sexual harassment are not only something that is shameful but also damage the honor of the institution. It is difficult for honorable members of the DPR to commit acts that are dishonorable,” he continued.
However, he admitted that he appreciated MKD’s response, which went directly to the victim when reporting. He also hopes that the MKD will quickly handle the case.
“The MKD as parliament’s honor guard should process reports of victims so they don’t damage the face of the institution. I hope that reporting of alleged harassment is also not linked to political matters. Don’t let the unethical actions of members be ignored by building political pretexts. We support MKD in working on cases this is complete. If it is proven, there must be strict sanctions against members who are suspected of committing sexual harassment,” he said.
Previously, a member of the DPR RI from the NasDem faction, Sugeng Suparwoto, was complained to the DPR’s Honorary Council Council (MKD). The complaint against Sugeng is related to a case of alleged verbal sexual harassment.
In the received document detikcom, Friday (9/6), the complainant is a member of the DPR RI for the 2014-2019 period with the initials AAFS. The reporting party visited the DPR MKD which is located at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, this afternoon and also met the leadership of the DPR’s MKD on that occasion.
The reporter conveyed that his complaint had been received by the DPR MKD. He admitted to bringing chat evidence which was also included in his complaint.
“I cannot comment much on the substance of the complaint, because the process is ongoing. I am only exercising my rights as a citizen and also myself as a NasDem cadre,” he said after reporting.
“If the complaint has been accepted, it means yes, bring evidence as well. Evidence of chatting,” he said.
