The police stated that the man with the initials YL who was arrested in Nduga, Papua Mountains, was a member of an armed criminal group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya. It turned out that YL was involved in the burning of the Susi Air plane and the hostage of pilot Capt Philip Mark Mehrtens.
“YL is a member of the KKB led by Egianus Kogoya, who is headquartered in Nduga,” said Head of the Task Force for Peace Ops Cartenz 2023 Kombes IGG Era Adhinata, reported detikSulselMonday (10/4/2023).
Era said YL had also been involved in the burning of Camp Dollarossa in 2021 and the shooting with the TNI Yonif Raider at Mapenduma on 2 February 2021.
“Finally, he took part in threatening 15 health center construction workers on February 5, 2023 in Paro District, Nduga, accompanied by the burning of a Susi Air plane that took pilot Capt Philip hostage,” he said.
Furthermore, Era said that his party was still conducting an in-depth examination of YL. Era claims this arrest was a serious blow to his group.
“Currently the condition of the suspect YL is still cooperative and healthy, and at the moment we are still carrying out developments on him,” he said.
