For the second time this season, Melvyn Jaminet crossed paths with USAP. A few months ago, in the Toulouse jersey, he contributed to the 43-34 victory by scoring a try. Now he plays with Toulon and this time again he did no more misery at the club which introduced him to the high level : “in fact, it could be a bit of a benchmark match for me and I’m going to try to build on it because since my arrival my performances have been a bit up and down. Everything is not perfect but I am happy nonetheless.“
This evening will remain special for the Varois rears**. Author of 24 of his team’s 44 points, he notably scored a try which kept USAP off the scoreboard (27 to 3). This solo attempt after a race of more than fifty meters, he barely celebrated: “it’s nice to score but I tried to control my joy and remain fair to Perpi because casually, Perpi is still close to my heart so I didn’t want to be extravagant in the joy of scoring, I remained sober.“
On the ground, for the RCT, Melvyn Jaminet did the job. On several occasions, notably in the first half, he found himself face-to-face with his former captain Mathieu Acébès who gave him a stamp in the rules of the art : “With Mathieu, we have a somewhat special friendship (laughs). We get along very well but on the pitch we know what he is like, he’s a dog who never gives up. It’s always fun to play against these guys who don’t give up and outside it’s a pleasure to see them.”

And then, at the end of the match, the RCT did its victory lap in front of supporters who were very suspicious and defiant of their team before the match. The players then returned to the locker room except Melvyn Jaminet. The red-and-black full-back crossed the field again, he climbed over the barrier to take a walk among the Catalan supporters.
A gesture that could not go unnoticed: “I say it and I don’t hide it, Perpi is a club that is close to my heart and I try to thank it as best as possible even if I am no longer part of the club. When I meet supporters, they are always nice to me, I try to give back to them as best I can, by going to see them, by taking photos with them. I think it’s important for them and in any case it’s important for me because I don’t forget what the club has done for me.“
The evening will ultimately have been good for Melvyn Jaminet who stood out on the field and is now awaiting, possibly, news from the XV of France: “I don’t think about that, the list is out, I concentrate on the club, I try to give everything and perform well. If I am recalled, of course I will be very happy but for now I am really focusing on my performances at the club.“
