Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni believes it was inappropriate for the French president to invite Volodymyr Zelenskyj to Paris before the EU summit.
– Honestly, yesterday’s invitation to Zelenskyj seemed more inappropriate to me as I believe that our strength in this fight is unityMeloni told the press when she arrived at the summit in Brussels on Thursday.
French President Emmanuel Macron, for his part, arrived with Volodymyr Zelenskyy after visiting Paris the day before. Here he had dinner with Macron and German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz.

Meloni is said to have been unhappy that she was not invited, according to the Italian media. Now she accuses Macron of having put domestic political considerations first.
– I understand the question of domestic politics, prioritizing public opinion at home, but there are moments where nurturing public opinion damages the case, and this seems to me to be such a case, she says.
Zelenskyj began his European tour in the UK on Tuesday. It is the second known trip abroad for the Ukrainian president after the Russian invasion almost a year ago.
