ESKILSTUNA. Scarlet had enough of men sending her pictures of their penises.

Then she came up with a tactic that scared the men away.

– We don’t want to see your dicks. They are ugly, she says.

The Swedish metal duo Scarlet consists of the masked performers Scarlet and Thirsty.

Now Scarlet talks about the problem they’ve had with unwanted pictures of men’s penises, so-called dickpics, in their dm’s.

The strategy that made the men quit

She says that she is the one who received the most of those types of photos, and that it has been a big problem, while Thirsty has received more inquiries from men who want to marry her, or buy her used socks.

– But I have come up with something. I usually screenshot these amazing pictures. And then I tend to blurt out a bit. Because you can’t show it on Instagram. Then I usually post this blurry picture in stories. And then I tag these men. Then they get really offended and think I’m so awful. “Now you have ruined it for me. What will my wife say? What will my mother say?” Well. So after I started that strategy, they stopped.

“Sexual harassment”

The duo say they don’t think the metal scene in particular is worse than anything else, but that this is a problem girls in general, especially in public, have to endure.

– We don’t care if someone sends an ugly cock. It’s not that. However, we want to show that it is not okay. And that when it happens to us, then we handle it like this. But you other girls who get it, don’t think for a second that this… For some young people, it’s everyday. They’re like “uh, got a dickpic”. Yes, although it is still sexual harassment, says Scarlet and continues:

– That guys think their… well, should be something to show off. There are finer things to put on a body in that case. Or like a “hello”. We don’t want to see. We don’t want to see your dicks. They are ugly.

Scarlet competes in Melodifestivalen’s fourth competition in Eskilstuna on 24 February 20:00 on SVT and SVT Play with the song “Circus X”.
