Melitopol, a city in Russian-occupied territory, targeted by Ukrainian army | Conflict in Ukraine

The Ukrainian army attacked a railway depot in the southern city of Melitopol on Wednesday. In addition, the power in the Russian-occupied city and nearby villages was lost.

Several explosions have occurred in the city. Ivan Fedorov, the exiled mayor of Melitopol, said this via Telegram. According to the Russian state news agency TASS there have been no casualties.

Melitopol is part of the land bridge connecting Russia with Crimea, occupied since 2014. The city is therefore an important place for the Russians to supply and reinforce their troops.

It is not known what weapons Ukraine used in the attack. The army may have used new weapons that the country received from the United Kingdom.
