For the “Austrian Helene Fischer” men must drink courage

Dresden/Graz – It is already known as “Austria Helen Fisher“Indicates: Melissa Naschenweng (32) is just getting started. She recently released her sixth studio album “Glück”. In the TAG24 interview, the Austrian talks about her performance with Helene Fischer (38) and why she is on the stands of “Bergbauernbuam”.

TAG24: How happy are you right now?

Melissa Naschenweng: Completely happy. I feel like I am immersed in happiness right now. I was able to have a lot of good times this year, but since the release of the album even more happiness has come into my life.

It all started with the Helene Fischer concert. During my vacation I finally had the time to think about everything I had experienced. It wasn’t that little (laughs).

TAG24: You just mentioned it, the biggest highlight was appearing as a support act for Helene Fischer in Bad Hofgastein. How was it?

Naschenweng: This was my recognition. I will never forget being able to perform in front of 25,000 people and in front of such a great artist.

Then I also got to meet Helene backstage. I’ve always been a fan of her, even more so now. It’s also a sign of greatness that she gave me the opportunity. After all, it was their concert and not all performers do it, giving someone else their stage.

Helene Fischer cannot be taken as a 100% role model.

TAG24: Is there anything you can learn from Helene that is a role model for you?

Naschenweng: Helene is an absolute perfectionist. If I had to follow them 100% as a model, I would be dissatisfied every day (laughs).

It’s authentic, honest. This is something I always want to stay: never lose your grip on the ground and communicate with people as equals. My grandfather always told me: “Never forget where you come from”.

TAG24: Your name is already “Helene Fischer of Austria”. Is comparison a gift or rather a burden?

Naschenweng: It’s a nice compliment. In my defence, I have to say that Austria is a bit smaller than Germany (laughs).

I have already managed to achieve a lot, but you have to leave the village church. I’m satisfied with how things are going for me right now and hope to be able to go on stage more often in Germany.

TAG24: Are you planning a tour through Germany?

Naschenweng: Yes, next year I will have a big tour, there will also be Germany, for example in Cham and Munich. But it also goes further north. The dates will follow around Christmas at the latest. And I’m very happy about it.

Pink leather pants are almost always there

TAG24: And then you will definitely appear in pink leather pants. Why has this, together with the Styrian rose accordion, become your trademark?

Naschenweng: I’ve been making music for twelve years. At first I only had the harmonica and at the time I thought a dirndl was too bulky because the instrument was so bulky. So I decided to wear leather pants.

And then the accordion suddenly turned pink and I bought myself a pair of pink leather pants. Meanwhile, in my closet there are also some black leather pants and I always change them.

TAG24: You also starred in the movie Pulled Pork (in theaters next year). Will it be your second pillar? Or was it just a one time trip?

Naschenweng: For me it was a crazy challenge. I always hoped to be able to act in a film one day. I was really happy that it was made into a movie right away. I hope it wasn’t the last time. But if I have to decide between film and theater, of course I prefer to go on stage. But I can act during the week (laughs).

Melissa Naschenweng hasn’t found a great love yet

TAG24: You once said in an interview that you still haven’t found the man of your dreams. What qualities should it have? Should it be a “Bergbauernbuam”?

Naschenweng: I hope Santa brings me a real mountain farmer (laughs). It’s important to me that he’s connected to his homeland, fits in lederhosen (laughs) and knows how to drive a tractor, which is very important to us. And he should be able to ski. In winter there is no other way to enter the valley with two meters of snow.

TAG24: Has being famous made it harder to find a partner?

Naschenweng: Men keep telling me they find it hard to get close to me. Some say: “Now I have to drink two beers so I have the courage to talk to you”.

I’m already wondering why. Just because I’m on TV doesn’t make me any better. I just turned my hobby into a job. It’s already more difficult for me to sort out who cares about Naschenweng and who cares about Melissa. It was easier before.

TAG24: But surely there is no shortage of offers?

Naschenweng: From time to time you get a nice little letter or a nice message (laughs). But I’ve been so busy this year, having been on the road non-stop since March, I’m just 100% into starting something mushy. Then I’d rather have nothing but music. But at some point it will adapt. Maybe by Christmas it will be time.
