Between 1974 and 1983, The Little House On The Prairie is broadcast in the United States with the success that we know. Driven by Melissa Gilbert, which portrays the character of Laura Ingalls, the show follows the adventures of a modest family in the 19th century. In France, it is a huge success and viewers follow on M6 the adventures of the Ingalls family, the detestable character of little Neillie or even the problems at work of the father of the family, Charles. At this time, Melissa Gilbert is a teenager and when the saga ends, she is only 19 years old.
Melissa Gilbert succumbed to the lure of cosmetic surgery
Like many of her colleagues, Melissa Gilbert succumbed to cosmetic surgery. “I grew up in an industry that values the outside much more than the inside.and I was caught in this gear of trying to stay young”she told the American magazine People on the occasion of the release of his new book, Back to the Prairie : A Home Remade, A Life Rediscovered. At 57, the actress returned to her role in The Little House On The Prairie. “There were chickens, cows, I even had my own horse called Peanuts. I loved playing Laura because I wanted to be like her.”she explained.
“I am relieved and so much happier”
Taking a step back from celebrity and a certain harmfulness of Hollywood, Melissa Gilbert and her partner Timothy Busfield bought a cottage in the mountains, not far from New York. “It’s what I always wanted. I’m finally happy to be myself. I’m so grateful and relieved and so much happier“. Indeed, her daily life has changed dramatically. The 57-year-old actress has adopted a more natural lifestyle, after the tumult in Hollywood and the pressure on her physique. “I told myself that I wanted to stay slim. I absolutely had to be seen in the right places, wear the right shoes and drive the right car. But it never went well“, she concluded, proud to have listened to her heart and her desires.
