Melgeek Pixel and Keysme Lunar 01 keyboards review – Conclusion

Both keyboards are more than slightly different and are outliers compared to the keyboards we normally review. Despite their novelty factor, they are by no means fast keyboards and their price is right. So it must be said that you have to have a lot of money to buy one of these keyboards, are you a collector or just a big fan of Lego or space. With prices well over 200 euros, these are not impulse purchases.

They are great keyboards, especially the Lunar 01. Much attention has been paid to the design and to making the keyboard luxurious and quiet. The silicone padding, gasket-mount sandwich construction, lubricated switches and stabilizers – everything has been done to make the keyboard produce a satisfying ‘thunk’, instead of the clatter that some keyboards produce. What a shame then that PC keycaps were included that visually and emotionally detract from the good feeling, and how unfortunate it is that there was no software for this pre-production model. Speaking of pre-production, we cannot promise that the finally delivered keyboard matches the one we received. Keysme obviously promises that the production model will only get better, but I don’t dare say much about it. The keyboard is as it is now, very nice to touch, with your eyes closed. A set of nice pbt keycaps on it and you are good to go.

Like the Lunar 01, the Pixel keyboard is a gasket-mounted keyboard, but it has a different feel. This could be due to the composite keycaps, with colored bottoms and loose, transparent tops. The keyboard is also of excellent quality, as the measurements with our texture analyzer show, but we still have the feeling that it is more of a show keyboard than a “daily driver”. It lends itself perfectly to creating new models again and again and thus to having a unique keyboard under your hands.
