A curve that does not seem to hint at lowering. It is that of the new cases of melanoma. The latest data come from England, but they photograph a situation that is similar in many countries: compared to the eighties of the last century – we read in the study published in The Lancet Regional Health – cases have quintupled in men and increased by twice and half in women. It is the fault of the spread of bad habits, first of all that of exposing oneself to the sun’s rays without protection and in the sunniest hours of the day, but also thanks to the increasingly accurate diagnosis ability. The result, however, is to have an ever-increasing number of patients who face the path that goes from diagnosis to treatment, according to the type of melanoma. The podcasts of “Beyond the skin diary – Stories in listening” are dedicated to this journey, divided into stages, to the questions and the need for reassurance that the people who undertake it need. The project is part of the “Beyond the skin” awareness campaign, promoted by Novartis in collaboration with the Italian Association of Melanoma Patients (AIMa.Me.), Melanoma Italia Onlus (MiO), Associazione Pazienti Italia Melanoma (APAiM), Emme Rouge Onlus .
