Melania Trump’s mother Amalijia Knavs has passed away, aged 78.

The former first lady of the United States, Melania Trump (53) writes about the sad news on X.

– It is with deep sadness that I can tell you that my dear mother, Amalija, has passed away, she writes.

Trump refers to his mother as strong and very family-oriented.

– Amalijia Knavs was a strong woman who always acted with elegance, warmth and dignity, writes Slovenian-born Trump.

– We will miss her incredibly, and continue to honor her legacy.

Melania Trump skipped the Christmas celebration at Mar-a-Lago in Florida and instead spent time with her sick mother elsewhere in Florida, writes Fox News.

However, Amalijia Knavs was present during the New Year’s celebration at Donald Trump’s in Florida, as the former president himself has stated.

He then stated that Knavs was “very ill”.

She and her husband Viktor lived in the White House during Donald Trump’s presidency, and had according to ABC a close relationship with the former president and his grandson Barron Trump.
