Mel Gibson gained so much weight for the role of Santa that he was ordered to stop eating

Mel Gibson has been ordered to stop eating – in case he gets too big to play Santa.

Fatman, the next project of Eshom and Ian Nelms, sees Mel, 64, playing the famous Big Santa Claus, and he’s piled on the pounds in preparation.

The alternate role sees an alcoholic, troubled version of Santa Claus for the Amazon Prime movie.

And Oscar winner Mel was told to put the fork down because he would get too big even for the character.

He shared, “I’m reasonably dirty. I said to the boys, “Hey, should I eat more ice cream and cookies? ”

“But they said, ‘No, you’re perfect, leave it like that.’

“Just because we call him Fatman doesn’t mean you have to be obese.” “

He added to The Sun, “Believe me, I have post 50 years of gut insulin. Don’t worry – I’m wearing it. ”

The film sees Mel grappling with ill-behaved children, marital problems with Mrs. Claus, and an assassin hired by a 12-year-old maniac.

And Mel is confident in the film’s quirky premise, saying he’s removing the caption to examine how a man like Santa Claus would really think and feel.

He continued, “For me, it was about taking an iconic character and examining the reality of who this guy could really be if he had the rest of the issues that most people in the world have.

“As if he has a mortgage to pay, if he has a bad back, if he is fighting with his wife.

“It examines the humanity of who Santa Claus could be without the great fantasy legend. “

Aussie Mel has carved out a career as a tough guy in Hollywood and has credits from films such as The Patriot, Braveheart, Mad Max and the Lethal Weapon series.

And in 1985, his status as a madman took him to People magazine’s very first Sexiest Man title.

Mel was hospitalized in Los Angeles earlier this year during a battle with Covid.

The Daily Telegraph first reported that the star was due to register after testing positive for the deadly bug.

“He tested positive in April and spent a week in the hospital,” his representative confirmed.
