Mehdi Zerkane Joins MC Algiers: Algerian Club’s Flashy Recruitment Continues

More than a week after announcing the recruitment of the whimsical striker Youcef Belaïli (31), MC Alger has formalized the arrival of a former attacking midfielder from Bordeaux.

MC Algiers continues its flashy recruitment. Just last week, the Algerian club recorded the signing of international winger Youcef Belaïli. The latter signed up as a free agent for a period of two years, until 2025, a few months after his end in blood sausage with AC Ajaccio.

Mehdi Zerkane at MC Algiers, it’s done

This Thursday, the MCA officially informed of the arrival of its new recruit Mehdi Zerkane. The 24-year-old Algerian international attacking midfielder (1 cap) joined Mouloudia freely from the Nîmes club, where he had just completed his six-month lease (9 appearances in National for 1 assist). He took over the management of the Gard club last January, three months after the end of his professional adventure of two seasons in his training club Bordeaux (2020-2022).

“Mehdi Zerkane is officially at Mouloudia for two seasons, coming from the French club of Nîmes”, communicated MC Alger on its official Twitter account in the afternoon. Like Youcef Belaïli, the player initially trained in Monaco (2016-2019) is now linked to the Dean until June 2025. He thus offers himself the opportunity to show himself in the eyes of the coach of the Algerian team Djamel Belmadi, and to apply for a return with the Fennecs.

Note that Mehdi Zerkane has not been called up with the Greens since June 2021. We have to go back even further to find traces of his last appearance with the Algerian jersey. It was in November 2020, during the qualifications for CAN 2021, for the 3-1 victory against Zimbabwe.
