Netflix will not continue working on PearlMeghan Markle’s animated series. That decision comes after a decline in the number of subscriptions to the American streaming service.

The American streaming platform Netflix announced on Sunday that it would put a number of announced animated series and films in the fridge. One of the projects is Pearla children’s animated series from Archewell Productions, the company started by Britain’s Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The series would focus on the adventures of a twelve-year-old girl, who was inspired by leading women in history.
In addition to Markle’s project, Netflix also canceled two other animated series as part of a “strategic decision,” the company said. This may have to do with a decrease in the number of subscribers. In the first quarter of this year, the streaming service lost 200,000 subscribers and a further decline is expected in the next quarter. As a result, Netflix has not been able to add the expected $2.5 million to their budget and has to be cut from the offer.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle closed in 2020 a multi-year deal with Netflix† Other Archewell projects will continue for the time being, such as the documentary series Heart of Invictus† It tells the story of wounded war veterans who took part in this year’s Invictus Games in The Hague.
