In letters to King Charles, Meghan Markle is said to have mentioned not one, but two people by name who allegedly spoke to her about the skin color of the then unborn Prince Archie. This is evident from Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival, the new book by British royalty writer Omid Scobie. This is reported by The Sun, in anticipation of the book’s publication next week.
Until now, it was always thought that one person within the British royal family would have spoken to Markle about the skin color of her child. Regarding the scope of the conversations, it was already known that there were concerns about ‘how dark’ Meghan and Prince Harry’s child would be, because Meghan is the daughter of a black mother and a white father.
Harry and Meghan previously spoke about this during a TV interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021. They said it concerned “an important member” of the family. After the conversation, Winfrey made it clear that it would not be about Queen Elizabeth or her husband Prince Philip. Charles also denied being the person through his spokesperson. According to The Sun, it is not clear in the book whether the second person is also family or, for example, a confidante.
Scobie was co-author of the bestseller Finding Freedom about the lives of Harry and Meghan. He is said to have ties to people close to the prince and his wife.
