Meghan Markle’s Best Friend Dragged The British Press On Christmas Day

Most people seem to be in the holiday spirit. Unfortunately, even though she’s not even in the U.K. for Christmas — Duchess Meghan Markle still can’t catch a break. After a whirlwind year that involved giving birth to her first child, Archie Harrison, and battling constant negative press — Markle is on hiatus from her royal duties.

The duchess and Prince Harry have left the U.K. for an extended holiday in Vancouver, Canada to get away from the British press and public who have made it their duty to try and pick apart everything Markle has done. Things have gotten so bad that the duchess revealed in an ITV documentary, Harry and Meghan: An African Journey that she hasn’t been doing all that well. Likewise, Prince Harry has decided to sue several U.K. tabloids for their treatment of his wife.

Just when we thought things would be different in 2020 — the press is having a field day over the Sussexes’ holiday card. However, one of Markle’s best friends is clapping back.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s 2019 holiday card features Baby Archie

Keeping in line with their modern approach to royal life — the Sussexes 2019 holiday card is a GIF — and it’s beyond adorable. The card features Markle and Prince Harry sitting on the floor in front of a Christmas tree grinning at Baby Archie who is smirking into the camera. Since we’ve seen very little of Archie since his birth on May 6, 2019 — this card is an extra special treat. The card reads, “Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. From our family to yours.”

Last year, the couple’s holiday card was much more formal and it featured a never-before-seen snap of the pair at their wedding reception in May 2018. However, it appears that from this point on, the Sussexes will be adding a bit more flair to their holiday cards.

The British tabloids are accusing Meghan Markle of photoshopping the Christmas card

Markle has openly spoken about her disdain for photoshop, but that hasn’t stopped Daily Mail from suggesting she photoshopped her face in the Sussex 2019 holiday card.

Daily Mail reported, “Meghan’s face appears significantly more in focus than that of Prince Harry in the picture appearing online, despite them both being roughly the same distance behind Archie.”

They went on to say, “One possible reason is that the image of her face was taken in another similar photograph in the same shoot, and then added onto the picture they released. It is not suggested that the Duke and Duchess edited the image.”

Meghan Markle’s best friend, Janina Gavankar just slammed the British media

The L Word actress Janina Gavankar has been one of the duchess best friends for the past 15 years. In fact, she was the one who took the photo that became the Sussexes’ 2019 holiday card. After hearing the photoshop claims she clapped back.

“Proud to have taken the Christmas photo for one of my best friends and her family,” Gavankar wrote. “Here’s the original that was sent out (cropped to fit IG)….and to The Mail, I see your campaign against my friend continues. Nice photoshop of my non-photoshopped image. Now may we all get back to the spirit of Christmas and not the spirit of maliciousness.”

We’re just glad the duchess has a strong circle of friends surrounding her.
