Meghan Markle will miss Prince Philip’s funeral because of her pregnancy

A doctor has advised Meghan Markle not to travel to Prince Philip’s funeral at Windsor Castle on Saturday due to her pregnancy, but her husband, Prince Harry, will be attending, the palace announced.

The Duke of Sussex will fly from the couple’s home in California and will follow COVID-19 protocols for the trip, as well as during their visit.

It is understood that the Duchess, who is pregnant with her second child, did her best to reunite with her husband, but her doctor did not give her permission to travel.

Harry has not returned to the UK since he left royal office just over a year ago.

It is also the first time he has seen his family in person since his explosive interview with Meghan with Oprah Winfrey, in which they accused the royal family of racism and the institution for not supporting Meghan who had suicidal thoughts.

Currently, funerals can be attended by a maximum of 30 people due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Mourners coming from outside England must isolate themselves upon arrival and for the first 10 days after arrival.

But Harry will have the right not to isolate himself on compassionate grounds to attend the funeral.

You could also be released from quarantine if you get a negative private test on day five of your arrival.
