The Duchess of Sussex was present on the set of the CBS show Sunday Morning alongside her husband, Prince Harry, to launch her foundation The Parents’ Network helping parents who have lost children directly or indirectly due to harassment via social networks.

The Duchess spoke about her own experiences and the pressures that led her to have suicidal thoughts as she discussed the importance of opening up about past trauma.

“When you’ve experienced any pain or trauma, whatever it may be, I think part of our healing journey — certainly part of mine — is being able to be really open about it,” she told host Jane Pauley. “And you know, I haven’t really scratched the surface of my experience yet. But I think I would never want anyone else to feel that way. And I wouldn’t want anyone else to have those kinds of thoughts and not be believed.”

The actress of Suits43, added that she hoped her experience would help others.

“If expressing what I’ve overcome can save someone or encourage someone to actually care about themselves and not assume that if appearances are right then everything is okay, it’s worth it. I’m willing to take it,” she added.

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey three years earlier, Meghan Markle revealed that she had suicidal thoughts while pregnant with her son Archie, now five, due to the pressure she faced as a member of the royal family, and the way she was treated by the media and online critics. The Duchess of Sussex had particularly pointed out the lack of support she received from the royal family.
