Meghan Markle penned a moving obituary for her friend Oli Juste, posted on the website of The Mayhew, an animal welfare organization she became a royal patron of in 2019, according to People. In her moving tribute, the Duchess said it was Juste who first introduced her to the organization.
Meghan also wrote that her friend even took care of his own pup when he first moved across the Atlantic: “In fact, it was Oli and her fiancé Rob who helped take care of my rescue dog, Guy, when he had just left me. move to the UK. and he was recovering from a debilitating accident. They loved him as if he were their own.” In honor of Juste, Meghan announced: “We will create the Oli Juste Wing in Mayhew, to house animals that may have a harder time finding their forever homes. Because, just like Oli, they will never be forgotten and will always be loved.”
Juste’s fiancé announced her passing on his Instagram page in January 2022, writing, “Oli was and continues to be an inspiration and game changer in the world of dogs and humans, and his special connection with animals was evident”. We are glad to know that his memory will be honored in a way that clearly would have meant a lot to him.
