¡Archewell has a new ally! The foundation of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry partnered with Chef José Andrés’s World Central Kitchen. World Central Kitchen helps feed communities adversely affected by natural disasters. In this new partnership, Archewell will build four Community Help Centers.
Located in regions around the world that are disproportionately affected by hunger and the challenges of the food system, these centers will operate as service kitchens during and after times of crisis. They can also be used as safe food distribution centers, schools, clinics, or community gatherings for children during times without natural disasters.
The first Community Aid Center is already being built in Dominica, which was devastated by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017. There are also plans to build a second center in Puerto Rico, where chef Andrés deployed a large-scale food security response. after Hurricane Maria. The locations of the third and fourth centers will be announced shortly.
Help in time of difficulty
“The health of our communities depends on our ability to connect with our shared humanity,” Meghan Markle and Prince Harry said in a statement. “When we think of Chef Andrés and his incredible team at World Central Kitchen, we remember that even during a year of unimaginable hardship, there are so many incredible people willing and working tirelessly to support each other. World Central inspires us through compassion in action.
“This year, I’ve seen many, many examples of neighbors supporting their neighbors, of communities coming together to get through tough times. Deep down, we believe in each other, in doing what is right for strangers as well as for our friends and family, ”said Andrés. «World Central Kitchen and I see a world full of dignity, empathy and humanity. We believe in the healing power of food and we like to say that wherever there is a fight for hungry people to eat, we will be there »
