Meghan Markle and Prince Harry collapse in popularity after interview with Oprah Winfrey

The popularity of Harry e Meghan after l‘interview to Oprah Winfrey sinks. A new YouGov poll has revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s popularity in Britain has plummeted to an all-time low.

HARRY AND MEGHAN, THE COLLAPSE OF POPULARITIES

A new YouGov poll, reports “The Telegraph”, reveals that the popularity of the British public for Harry e Meghan, after the now famous interview with Oprah Winfrey, it has dropped dramatically: 45% of the sample has a positive opinion of Prince Harry, while 48% considers him negative, recording a drop of 15 percentage points from a survey on March 2nd. Same goes for Meghan, with 58% of respondents against and a decline of 27%.

The couple with theinterview shocked the royal family. In the worst part, 39-year-old Meghan told Mrs. Winfrey that when she was pregnant with her son Archie, a family member raised “concerns” with the Duke of Sussex about how dark her skin might be. The Duchess also revealed that she had thought about suicide, but was rejected by the human resources department when she sought help because “it was not a staff”.

PRINCE CHARLES ALSO SUFFERS

The 72-year-old Prince of Wales is the only other member of the royal family to see a decline in popularity. In the interview, his son Harry admitted that he felt “disappointed” by his father’s lack of empathy. 42% now have a negative opinion of Prince Charles (from 36% on March 2), and in the meantime the share that sees him favorably has dropped from 57% to 49%.

The prince is considered “deeply concerned” by the accusations of racism raised by the Sussexes and feels “disappointed” by his son and daughter-in-law. A source close to him reported that the “incendiary” interview caused pain and division and that trust for the couple was eroded.

Public opinion varies greatly according to age groups. A majority of 18-24 year olds (55%) said they like Meghan and Harry, while most people aged 65 and over have a bad opinion of both.

The British, however, continue to be more fond of the queen, who reaches an 80% rating, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are also very popular, “liked” by three quarters of the population.
