Prince Harry and Meghan: expert shares date of “reconciliation”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have had an eventful year, including their interview with Oprah Winfrey, the arrival of their second child Lilibet and the death of Prince Philip. Today, December 29, it’s been a year since the Sussexes released the first episode of their Archewell Audio podcast. After the news that the royal family had signed a £ 18million deal with streaming giant Spotify, high expectations were high from Meghan and Harry. They produced a 35-minute episode, calling on famous faces including Sir Elton John and James Corden to discuss how they had handled the pandemic and their own hopes for the future.
Archie also made a cameo appearance, wishing listeners a ‘Happy New Year’ with Harry and Meghan laughing as he did.
Yet since then they haven’t produced another minute of content.
According to The Sun, they have so far earned £ 486,000 per minute for their work. Others have suggested, however, that Spotify would almost certainly not have paid the full cost up front, but rather a small upfront.
Harry and Meghan also signed a multi-million pound deal with Netflix. Royal expert Russell Myers, however, has warned that the streaming giants will want their “pound of flesh” at some point.

Pod Save The Queen is hosted by Mr. Myers, the Royal Mirror Editor-in-Chief, and Zoe Forsey.
Speaking in January, Mr Myers said: ‘They want to try to figure out where Harry and Meghan’s future lies and whether it is to continue this juggernaut of signing up to projects with these big companies. who will undoubtedly want their book of flesh at the end of it.
“I don’t think they’ll just give Harry and Meghan tens of millions of pounds just to produce podcasts like they did in the pilot episode we heard recently.
“As enjoyable as it is, I don’t think it opens up new horizons.

“And certainly the money that is given to Harry and Meghan, they’ll probably want them to do something a little more meaty.”
“What if it involved them showing off their life in California or if it involved them making historic plans on the Royal Family or talking about their position before the Megxit…”
The Sussexes hired veteran podcast producer Rebecca Sanaes as chief audio officer in August, with exciting plans reportedly in the works.
A source from Spotify recently told The Sun, “Spotify was thrilled when they signed the couple, but the lack of content mystified them.

“Especially since they seem to have no problem producing content for other platforms. “
Media lawyer Ian Penman, who specializes in music streaming contracts, recently told Express.co.uk that Spotify may have overestimated the popularity of Meghan and Harry.
He said, “It wouldn’t be an unfair assumption that maybe their popularity wasn’t as great as themselves or that Spotify first felt it.
“I think you might draw the conclusion that if [Spotify] didn’t exercise the option on the next episode of the podcast, so maybe they didn’t have the popularity Meghan and Harry expected or Spotify expected.
It is not yet known if and when the next episode will be released. (Image: GETTY)
Mr Penman stressed that Spotify would not have lost the game if the deal had not gone as planned.
He explained that when musicians sign big contracts, they don’t get all the money they’re entitled to on day one.
He said: ‘When they talk about an £ 18million Spotify podcast deal it probably means they’ve signed their first product, in this case a podcast – then they have plenty of options for others. products. “
He added: ‘If all of these options are exercised and we don’t know how many podcasts this relates to, it could be that the total money spent by Spotify is £ 18million.
“So, have they lost money today? Probably not a dime.
The lack of content could be explained by Meghan and Harry’s busy schedules.
In addition to raising their second child, the Oprah Winfrey interview and various other engagements, Meghan published the children’s book ‘The Bench’, while Harry took over responsibility for the health start-up’s impact. mental “BetterUp,” according to Mercury News.
It’s unclear when the next Meghan and Harry podcast episode will be released, if at all.
