Megawati’s warnings to Ganjar about the Rob Flood have come true

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Chairman of the PDI-Perjuangan Megawati Soekarnoputri had time to ‘rebuke’ the Governor of Central Java Pranowo reward related threats rob flood or high tide on the coast of Semarang, Central Java, in early August 2021.

Megawati conveyed the warning during the Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster Mitigation Training event which was held by the DPP PDIP virtually through the Zoom application.

Initially, Megawati talked about the threat of tidal flooding in various regions in Indonesia.

In the middle of her presentation, Megawati suddenly looked for Ganjar’s face, who was both present virtually at the event.

When Ganjar’s face is displayed on the main screen zoomMegawati immediately mentioned the problem of tidal flooding on the north coast of Semarang.

Megawati emphasized that Ganjar was nominated by PDIP as governor, one of which was to fix the tidal flood and port management in Semarang, Central Java. Ganjar must handle this matter properly.

“But at first glance I saw Pak Ganjar. This is if you are still listening to me. Well to [nah ini]. That’s what I made you from the start [gubernur] I’ve already said that right? wlah wleh wlah wleh Semarang port affairs and so on,” said Megawati at the time.

“See, what about Semarang. Because I said, later if it has been robbed [nanti kalau sudah ada banjir rob] cry,” added Megawati.

Megawati admitted that she dared to speak like that because Ganjar was the regional head of the PDIP. That way, said Mega, there must be improvements in the area that Ganjar leads.

“I am with my subordinates, some me [berani aku]. But as for the others, sorrywhat will I be considered later,” said Megawati.

At that time, Ganjar responded to Megawati’s words only by giving a sign of respect and a smile.

Megawati again emphasized the importance of making improvements to prevent tidal flooding and improving port governance in Central Java.

He reminded the importance of central and regional coordination in disaster mitigation. According to him, regional heads cannot act alone.

“But right not can. Later the regional authority will end there. It means that the connectivity must be with the center,” said Megawati.

Now Megawati’s warning has been proven. Tidal flood hit the coastal area of Semarang City, Central Java, Monday (23/5).

The height of the tidal flood reached more than two meters and hit the area around the Tanjung Emas Port.

Responding to the tidal flood, Ganjar claimed that his party had made long-term handling efforts. However, said Ganjar, some work has not been completed.

“For the long term, we have been working on it for several years and it’s not finished yet,” wrote Ganjar via his personal twitter account (@ganjarpranowo), Tuesday (24/5).

In addition to long-term handling, Ganjar claimed that his party had taken short-term measures to suppress tidal flooding.

“We have done short-term measures by lowering sandbags and pumping water,” he said.
