Megawati’s Reason for Not Participating in the Harlah Pancasila Ceremony with Jokowi

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) leads a ceremony to commemorate the birthday of Pancasila in 2022 at the Ende Pancasila Square, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Jokowi was accompanied by Iriana Joko Widodo and NTT Governor Viktor Laiskodat.

Jokowi acted as the ceremony inspector and led the ceremony from Pancasila Square, Wednesday (1/6/2022). Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), Megawati Soekarnoputri did not attend the ceremony with Jokowi. Megawati revealed her reason for being absent from the event.

Megawati’s reason for not having a ceremony with Jokowi

The PDIP chairman said he had informed Jokowi about the reason for his absence. The reason, he said, was because he had to fill out the seminar agenda which he considered quite important.

“He is now in Ende. I said goodbye, because I consider this important,” said Mr Megawati when he was a keynote speaker at the National Seminar on the National Character Strengthening Rector Forum (FRPKB) in order to virtually commemorate the Birthday of Pancasila June 1, 2022, Wednesday (1/6/2022).

Megawati admitted that she had received questions about her absence. He explained that he had already shared his duties with other BPIP officials to attend the ceremony in Ende.

“Even though I was asked why Mrs. Mega did not appear on the BPIP steering board, journalists are usually ignorant, I said because of their duties. There are BPIP administrators there,” he said.

Megawati sees her duty as the keynote speaker at the rectors’ event to ground the Pancasila ideology. In fact, said Mega, they are the ones who determine the curriculum in universities.

“I feel I will meet the rectors who will introduce, because the chancellor decides the curriculum,” he continued.

Megawati then asked the chancellors to pay attention to the curriculum that could maintain the implementation of the Pancasila ideology. “So how can the rectors make this a curriculum that inevitably has to be stated so that our students know that this nation was formed because of Pancasila, that is the glue of the nation,” he hoped.
