PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri showed a paper containing regulations prohibiting the president and ministers from using current state facilities campaign.

Megawati did this on the stage of the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD Grand Campaign ‘People’s Celebration 3 Total Wins’, in Banyuwangi, East Java, Thursday (8/2).

“Is this really a paper? This is so the mother doesn’t think about it lie (lie). “There are regulations, so I brought it, so it’s not a lie, this is called so you can be smart, this is the law, I read it, Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections,” said Megawati in front of Ganjar-Mahfud supporters.

Megawati then showed the paper and read Article 304 paragraph (2), which states that the president, vice president, state officials and regional officials are not permitted to use state facilities in conducting campaigns.

“Later, if I read it, it’s going to be long, can you look for it or not? There’s a pamphlet, but what’s the most important thing? Leaders from the president, ministers, other officials, etc. are not allowed to use facilities called state facilities,” he said. .

Megawati then asked the crowd present whether they knew about this rule or not. If not, he asked students to educate and convey these regulations to the public.

“Who is a student? A female student? That’s the smart one. Read the legislation so it can be conveyed to those who don’t know,” he said.

Megawati’s action is similar to that of President Joko Widodo when explaining his statement that a president is not prohibited from campaigning and taking sides some time ago.

In his presentation, Jokowi explained to the public that he brought a large piece of paper with a number of articles in Law No. 7 of 2017 concerning Elections.

Jokowi said that based on article 299, the president and vice president have the right to carry out campaigns. Furthermore, he also pointed to article 281, which states that election campaigns involving the president and vice president must comply with the provisions. Namely not using facilities in office except security facilities and undergoing leave outside the state’s responsibility.

“So what I am conveying is the provisions regarding the Election Law. Don’t take it anywhere,” said Jokowi in a video uploaded via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel, Friday (26/1).

Jokowi previously stated that a president could take sides and campaign in the presidential election as long as he followed campaign time rules and did not use state facilities.
