Ahead of the 2024 presidential election, the idea has emerged that the president of the PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Megawati Sukarnoputri run again as a presidential candidate (candidate). President of the DPP PDIP extension Eriko Sotarduga said the idea made sense, because Megawati’s constitutional rights could still be respected.
The suggestion for Megawati to run again in the political competition was conveyed by the co-founder of Total Politik Budi Adiputro during a political debate organized by the Free People’s Association. The event was also attended by NasDem DPP chief Effendi Choirie or Gus Choi, PPP Deputy Secretary General Idy Muzayyad, PDIP DPP Chairman Eriko Sotarduga, and Indonesian Policy Parameters Executive Director Adi Prayitno.
Initially, Budi said that support for Ganjar Pranowo and Puan Maharani as presidential candidates could divide the PDIP internally. According to him, the threat of division will not occur if Megawati runs for president.
“When there is Ganjar faction and there is Puan faction, this can divide the party, this can make this party paralyzed in the future too due to divisions. Why is it not pushed to Ms. Mega? Ms. Mega is constitutionally still possible, so when Ms. Mega becomes an option, then there is absolutely no division. All BTL, tori are perpendicular,” Budi said at the policy discussion at Political Coffee, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Saturday (7/ 1/2023).
Budi also spoke about the United States (USA), whose presidential candidate is no longer young, but has experience. He said this was an example of a similar situation if Megawati ran for president again.
“There is a country called the United States, in 2024 we will meet two grandparents, Gus Choi, if nothing stands in the way there will be two grandparents named President Joe Biden, 82 years later in 2024, and President Donald Trump, 78 years old, will fight, compete to be the most powerful person on earth 2024, 78 and 82 years are the same, Miss Mega is the same age, Miss Mega is 75 if I’m not mistaken 76, this year 76. Still 75, next year 77 , the same 82 years old as Gus Choi Let’s say America doesn’t have a supply of young people? That’s not true, now it’s his imagination, okay, ”he said.

The answer of the president of the Pdi-P
PDIP DPP chairman Eriko Sotarduga immediately gave his response on Megawati’s idea to run for president again. Eriko said Budi’s idea of Megawati running for president in the 2024 presidential election still makes sense.
“In our opinion, that makes sense. Very reasonable. Because that way there is nothing wrong, whether he has been given the opportunity or the full right to decide. Whether he is the general president himself or he gives up his rights. Just like in 2014 he gave his rights to Pak Jokowi, Eriko said.
Eriko said she would forward the proposal to Megawati. He said the decision whether to accept the proposal was entirely in Megawati’s hands.
“Yes, I have already communicated to all of us, the netizens who have witnessed everything that obviously the proposal of Mas Budi earlier as co-founder of Total Politics must be broadcast, because after all this is a suggestion from one of the children of the nation that also represents the younger generation. But whether this will be his decision or not, we will have to wait, “he said.
