After a year of investigations and with the participation of over 200 uniformed personnel, the authorities carried out one of the most important operations of 2022. Through 23 raids, in the district of San Antonio de Prado, 17 members of a gang were captured criminal, indicated exploitation of minors for crime.
In this way, members of this group are prevented from obtaining illegal monthly income of $ 800 million, due to extortion and drug trafficking in the district of San Antonio de Prado, as well as in the municipalities of Itagüí and La Estrella, where they would also have illegal interference. The Medellin City Hall He highlighted the joint work between the Metropolitan Police and the Sectional Prosecutor’s Office, with the support of technological tools.
“We have to thank and congratulate General Carlos Humberto Rojas and the section prosecutor, Ricardo Romero, for the work done. These 17 captures are the tip of the iceberg of what is being done in an articulated manner by the Secretariat for Security and Coexistence, led by General José Gerardo Acevedo. We have the technology, what we see are not just cameras, tools, intelligence, monitoring, so that criminals have no escape “, said the managing director of the Medellín Mayor’s Office. According to information, the shares were split into two moments. In the first, evidence was collected from interviews, photographic examinations, surveillance, monitoring and analysis of communications with a court order. Nine arrest warrants were issued against members of a criminal group for the offenses of aggravated criminal association and aggravated forced displacement, resulting in nine raids. The detainees will be investigated for exploiting minors.
“There were 15 catches and two of them in the act of crime. This criminal group is accused of conspiracy, forced displacement, drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons. They hit the San Francisco de Itagüí neighborhood, several points in San Antonio de Prado and La Estrella ”, said the commander of the metropolitan police, Brigadier General Carlos Humberto Rojas.

Some of the detainees have a history of conspiracy to commit a crime, personal injury, drug trafficking, evasion, theft, manufacture, possession and trafficking of firearms.
The capture of the alias ‘seven’ stands out, a trusted man by the head of the criminal group, who, according to the authorities, will take care of the accounting. As established, gang members used forced displacement to seize homes in El Limonar I and II neighborhoods. They also affected the sectors of Limonar II, Prados del Este, Aragón, Praditos, La Pradera and Filo del Hambre.
“With the Prosecutor’s Office, as part of the articulated strategy, this coup is carried out in the south of the Aburrá Valley. They have already been charged by a judge. In the raids, a 5.56 rifle, more than 100 ammunition and a silenced submachine gun were found. It is a fundamental blow and the 17 people have been insured by a judge of the republic. Let it be known that we continue to work in an articulated way ”, added the section director of the Prosecutor’s Office, Ricardo Iván Romero.
In a second operation, after 14 raids and searches in Itagüí, eight people were captured (six by court order and two in the act of crime). In this action he was arrested, aka ‘petaca’, head of the criminal organization.
“We remain very firm with our strategies against crime in all its forms, thanks to the complaints of citizens. These operations allow us to present to citizens less extortion, forced displacement and, above all, we attack the exploitation of minors through these criminal groups, ”said the Under-Secretary of Operations (s) of the Secretariat for Security and Coexistence, Ana María Betancur.
In addition to the guns, communications equipment, four pounds of marijuana, and 12-gauge shotgun, pistol and shotgun ammunition were found.
