Megan Rapinoe is ready as an international for the United States. The 38-year-old football player ended her international career with a victory. Rapinoe won her last match with the US national team 2-0 against South Africa. In Chicago she left the field after 54 minutes to great applause. She announced earlier this year that she would stop playing football after this season.
‘World a little better’
“It makes me very proud that we have been so successful together on the field and that we have made the world a little bit better,” the attacker said after her last international match.
Rapinoe, who was named the best football player in the world in 2019, played 203 times for the United States. She won the world title in 2015 and 2019 and became Olympic champion in 2012.

She played her last major tournament at the World Cup in July in New Zealand and Australia. America failed to extend the title.
Rapinoe has also been committed off the field. She is a leading advocate for gender equality. She also took the initiative to take the women’s team to court to receive the same financial reward from the American Football Association as the men. For her efforts, she received the highest civilian award in the US last year.
