Even before the grand finale of the show on the occasion of the platinum anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II begins, Prince Harry and his wife Megan left the UK on a private plane on Sunday, the Daily Mail reported.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex took off with their children from Farnborough Airport, west of London, yesterday at 1.30 pm, one hour before the start of the anniversary show in central London.
This marked the end of their participation in the jubilee, in which they had no official role anyway, given that they relinquished their royal duties in 2020.
“There was no fanfare, they just left. They did not stay for the whole celebration of the platinum anniversary, which is a holiday for the whole of Britain with all its quirks and eccentricities during the 70-year reign of the Queen, “an internal source told the Daily Mail.
On Sunday afternoon, the couple, who settled in Montecito, California, left the Frogmore mansion in Windsor, where she was staying, after arriving in the United Kingdom on Wednesday.
They were already crossing the Atlantic when Harry’s grandmother, father, brother and nephews waved to the crowds from the balcony of Buckingham Palace at the end of four days of wonderful celebrations marking the 1970s on the Queen’s throne.
Approximately 18 million people took part in the jubilee celebrations on the streets of London yesterday. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in West London also attended one of the festivities on Sunday.
The family, who were largely absent from the jubilee celebrations, was last seen in public on Friday at a thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Cathedral, where they were both booed and applauded on arrival and departure. The two spent most of their stay at the Windsor Residence in the company of their children, organizing a “quiet” party for little Lilibeth’s first birthday. The Duke and Duchess did not attend the gala concerts, but stayed in Windsor with the Queen to watch the concert with Her Majesty.
