Disappointed supporters mercilessly calculated with the Greens on Twitter.
The Greens club boss Sigrid Maurer was a guest in the “ZiB2” on Monday. The 36-year-old answered questions from Armin Wolf about compulsory vaccinations as well as internal party critics such as Dornbirn city councilor Martin Hämmerle and ex-party leader Madeleine Petrovic, who has repeatedly expressed skepticism about vaccination.
Maurer made it clear that the Green Party “stands 100 percent behind compulsory vaccination” at federal, state and club level. Petrovic’s statements are “not a position of the Green Party and must be rejected 100 percent”. The former federal spokeswoman (1994 to 1996) and Lower Austrian state spokeswoman (2002 to 2015) no longer has a position with the Greens.

Shit storm on the web
The Maurer interview was advertised on Twitter in advance, but many disappointed followers reacted with a powerful shitstorm. For example, one user wrote: “Perhaps she can explain credibly why she supports politics against the people of our country?”. Another was very disappointed: “I’m stunned. Just twisting the evidence. Why? Who or what is it useful for? Overselling at its best.”
Many supporters are outraged by the performance of the Greens in government so far: “They won’t even win a flowerpot in the next election. Why, because they are amateurs clinging to posts. No idea, nothing. Back to the Punch and Judy party.” Another user wrote: “Maybe also ask Ms. Mauer tonight about the intolerable black/turquoise-green adjournment tactics of all LGBTQ+ issues? She certainly doesn’t have a sentence she has learned by heart…”
