Mega Millions: only one number was missing for New York to take the $830 million grand prize

A resident of Staten Island (NYC) was just one number short of winning the historic prize of $830 million in Tuesday’s drawing in the Mega Millions lottery.

The unidentified customer purchased a ticket at the Honey Bee Convenience store in the Graniteville neighborhood and won $1 million dollars, that have not yet been claimed, said New York Post.

He matched six of the numbers drawn on Tuesday: 7, 29, 60, 63 and 66, and Mega Ball 15, he said. the New York State Lottery. Dipak Patel, owner of the convenience store, said “I hope so,” when asked Wednesday if he thinks the winner will come to claim the prize.

Another second place winning ticket still unclaimed was sold in the regional north, at Cumberland Farms in Corinth, about 50 miles north of the capital, Albany. There were two more cases in New Jersey.

Total eight Mega Millions players across the country won $1 million and another $3 million (matched five numbers and 3x Megaplier) in St Clairsville, Ohio.

“I feel great being a winning store”, Patel added standing by the lottery machines. “The last time this happened was in 2005 for $30 million. Since then, I have nothing.”

No tickets matched the main draw on Tuesday, so the new jackpot to be drawn tomorrow Friday night will be $1.025 billion, or $602.5 million after taxes.

The new amount marks the third time in Mega Millions history the jackpot has exceeded $1 billion and is chasing the second largest contest jackpot of $1.05 billion won by a player from Michigan in 2021. The largest winning Mega Millions ticket in history fetched $1.537 billion and was purchased in South Carolina in October 2018.

Last September, a ticket sold at a Midtown Manhattan pizzeria earned $432 million of dollars in that same game.
