A Mega Blood Donation will be held at the Municipality of Port-Louis, this Thursday, August 12 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. An initiative of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Welfare and the Town Hall of Port-Louis, as well as with the support of the Blood Bank Mauritius, the Blood Donors Port-Louis, the Rotary Club of Floréal , the Lions Club International, the Color Pencils, the Brand & Advertising Agency and Wazaa FM.
This citizen approach is part of a perspective of alleviating a lack of blood in the country. All the more so since the reserves of the blood bank are currently at a critical point. Thus young people are invited to donate their blood, because on average 150 pints of blood are needed to meet the daily demand of the country.
It should be noted that donors will be able, from this week, to donate blood from the eighth day after receiving a first dose of an anti-Covid-19 vaccine.
An outcome that comes after consultations have taken place between the blood bank and the World Health Organization in the face of the worrying shortage of blood. This as put forward by the President of the Blood Donors Association in Mauritius, Dewanand Hossen at Wazaa FM.
