The Hollywood cutie refuses starring roles in “Ghost”, “Pretty Woman” and “The Silence of the Lambs”
Teenagers in the 80’s remember that cult orgasm of Meg Ryan in “When Harry Met Sally”, from which their eyes narrowed at the nose, in the days when only in the movie “Serdika” there was a deep sound. Her character, with strange eating habits, had lunch with Harry as Billy Crystal, and they talked about whether women pretended to have sex and how a man knew if an orgasm was real. To show him that men often don’t feel the difference, Sally began to simulate sexual pleasure in such a convincing way that it shocked everyone around her. And an elderly woman eating at a nearby table pulled the waiter over and told him, “I want what she ordered.”
This line, “I’ll have what she’s having,” was uttered by director Rob Rainer’s mother, Estelle Rainer, and ranked No. 33 on the American Film Institute’s list of “100 Best Movie Quotes in American Film.” The scene was shot at Katz’s Deli, a real restaurant on E. Houston Street in New York. On the table they were sitting on, there was now a sign that read, “Where Harry met Sally … I hope you have what she had!”
The star of the seventh art from the 80s and 90s of the last century, Meg Ryan from yesterday is 60 years old. She was also the lovely and innocent girl Betsy in “While the World Shines”, an endless saga like “Courage and Beauty”.
She was born at 10:08 a.m. on November 19 as Margaret Mary Emily Ann Hira. Her mother, Susan Hira Jordan (named after Ryan), is a former actress, casting director and English teacher, and her father, Harry Hira, is a math teacher. She has two sisters, Dana and Annie, and a brother who is a musician – Andrew Hira.
Meg Ryan graduated from Bethel High School in 1979 and was elected Ball Queen.

At the age of 18, thanks to his mother’s connections, Ryan recorded his first television commercial to promote the Tickle deodorant. Ryan played Betsy Stewart in the series “While the World Shines” from 1982 to 1984. She followed several television productions and small film roles, including in “Promised Land”, for which she received her first nomination.
In 1986, she played Carol Bradshaw in Top Gun and Lydia Maxwell in Inner Space, starring her ex-husband Dennis Quaid.
With his participation in “Top Gun” in 1986, he became a star with only one line: “Put me in bed, stallion, or you lose me forever.” This was said by her heroine Carol to her husband Gus, who flew with Maverick and later died. Along with the film, she and actor Anthony Edwards, who is Gus, become a couple and she moves in with him. A year later, he met Dennis Quaid on the set of “Inner Space” and had a love affair, and then got married.
Ryan then appeared in the thriller “DOA” and the action movie “Presidio”. It was the turn of the aforementioned “When Harry Met Sally”, for his participation in which he received a Golden Globe nomination.

Meg Ryan played a memorable role as Pamela Corson, Jim Morrison’s longtime girlfriend, an outstanding work by Val Kilmer as an actor, in Oliver Stone’s 1991 film Doors.
In 1993, Meg co-starred with Tom Hanks in the incredibly successful romantic comedy Insomnia in Seattle. The actress makes several attempts to break out of the stereotypical roles of a romantic naive woman and makes a super character in “When a Man Loves a Woman”, in which she plays an alcoholic, the wife of Andy Garcia’s character, and in “Courage under Fire”, where she performs the role of captain. Both films were really successful and went up to the box office. And she is no longer accepted only as the sweetheart of Hollywood.
In 1997, Ryan voiced the main character in the animated film “Anastasia”, which received positive reviews and was successful in the box office. In 1998, her work at You Have Mail, where Ryan reunited with Tom Hanks, earned her a third Golden Globe nomination and grossed more than $ 250 million.

In 1998, she was ranked 59th in Entertainment Weekly’s “Most Influential People in Hollywood.” And in April 1998, she was voted the most popular movie star by readers and online users of People Weekly Magazine. In June 1999, she was ranked 57th on Premiere magazine’s list of the “100 Most Influential People in Hollywood.”
Savage Garden’s song, “All Around Me,” was written for her, and Daniel Jones, the band’s composer, was in love with it. She took three weeks of boxing lessons to prepare for her role in “Against the Ropes.” Ryan wanted to know the sport better and the terms her character used.
She refused a bunch of cult leading roles – in “Ghost”, “Criminal”, “The Silence of the Lambs”, “Beautiful Woman”. However, the asteroid 8353 Megryan was named after her.
She has two children – Jack Henry Quaid by her ex-husband Dennis Quaid and adopted daughter Daisy Tru Ryan, who took her from China at the age of 14 months in 2006. He and Quaid separated in 2001 after 10 years of marriage, they say, because he overdosed on alcohol, and she had an affair with Russell Crowe.
