Meeting with Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister

Pope Francis arrived in Québec on Wednesday, July 27, and went to the so-called Citadelle or Citadel of Québec, seat of the Governor General, where he held a meeting with the main authorities of the country such as the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.

The Holy Father arrived by car at the courtyard of the Citadel of Québec at 4:46 pm, where he greeted Trudeau and Canada’s Governor General, Mary Simon.

Next, the official band played the pontifical anthem and the anthem of Canada.

They then headed inside the Citadel, where the Holy Father met with Simon, and Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State, met with Trudeau.

The Substitute for the Vatican Secretariat of State, Msgr. Edgar Peña Parra, the Secretary for Relations with States, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, and the Apostolic Nuncio to Canada, Msgr. Ivan Jurkovič, also participated in this meeting.

After these meetings it was the Pope who spoke with Trudeau and Cardinal Parolin who met with Mary Simon.

At the end, the official photo was taken and they went to the main room for the meeting with the country’s authorities.
