Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Great Britain, Desta Believe, had a meeting with young Blackburn Rovers player Joseph Simatupang Ferguson. He hopes that the Batak-blooded footballer can defend the Indonesian national team.
Joseph does not need to be naturalized to defend the Indonesian national team. He can follow his mother who is an Indonesian citizen (WNI).

This incident happened to Elkan Baggott. The Ipswich Town pillar chose to become an Indonesian citizen like his mother rather than following his father who is a British citizen.
“19 years old, born in Manchester and bloody Batak-English. Playing as a right-back at Blackburn Rovers,” wrote Desra in his Twitter account.
“Hopefully joining the Indonesian national team. Anyone know who he is?” the man who is also the Indonesian Ambassador to Ireland and the International Maritime Organization added.
Some time ago, Joseph expressed his readiness to strengthen the Indonesian national team. He feels proud when he can defend his mother’s country of origin.
“Of course playing in the national team, of course Indonesia because my mother is from there. I also often go to Indonesia, it would be a great thing if that happened. Of course I am interested but I don’t know. See what happens later,” said Joseph.
