The mayor of Ioannina, Thomas Begas, met today in his office with the Austrian Ambassador to Greece, Gerda Vogl.
Mrs. Vogl’s visit was timed to organize a cello recital by Austrian artists today in Ioannina with the Austrian Embassy in Athens and the Ioannina Painting School.
The meeting was held in a very positive atmosphere, with the main topic being exploring opportunities for cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The Mayor of Ioannina confirmed the city’s desire to strengthen its international relations through city diplomacy, with the aim of developing partnerships with Austria at several levels, such as education, tourism, culture, innovation and trade.
Special emphasis was also placed on the fact that the city of Klagenfurt, in Austria, is one of the 100 cities participating in the program for climate independence until 2030, as is the city of Ioannit .
The Ambassador, for her part, confirmed Austria’s intention to strengthen its relations with cities such as Ioannina, reinforcing the dynamics that can be developed through partnerships that promote sustainable development, innovation and inter- cultural work.
The meeting ended with the commitment of both sides to further explore specific collaborations in the near future, followed by an exchange of memories.
