Assistant Secretary for African Affairs, Molly Phee, met with Prime Minister Pahimi Padacké Albert in N’Djamena. The Deputy Secretary and the Prime Minister discussed the progress of Chad’s transition, including the ongoing pre-dialogue in Doha and the upcoming National Dialogue in N’Djamena, as important elements of a peaceful transition to a government led by democratically elected civilians by the end of 2022. They affirmed the joint commitment of the United States and Canada to work in partnership on security in the Sahel, as well as on efforts to combat human trafficking. The Deputy Secretary and the Prime Minister expressed their support for the Ukrainian people and the principles of the UN and AU charters currently threatened by Russia’s aggression in Ukraine. They agreed that bilateral cooperation will advance shared mutual interests and contribute to the stability and prosperity of the Chadian people.
