BThe scouts presented their current activities in the strudel tavern. Josef Hartberger was dismissed as supervisor of the Boy Scout Home in the Ungartor. Arnold Weisz takes over his duties.

After a three-year break due to Corona, the sea scouts “Viribus Unitis” invited to the strudel tavern in the parish hall on Saturday. Boy Scouts, parents, friends and old Scouts met to try around 50 different strudel variations, to play together in the garden and to find out about current Boy Scout activities.

Since 2021, Wilhelm Mikulitsch has been the chairman of the sea scouts. “I was happy to take on the role, after all I’ve been a boy scout since I was little,” says the 48-year-old from Hainburg, who is the director of the Wolfsthal-Berg elementary school. The group has around 60 members in three age groups. “We are currently looking for supervisors for the groups,” reports Mikulitsch. These would not have to have been Boy Scouts themselves, but they would have to have time for the weekly home lessons on a regular basis. This year, participation in the summer camp in Hinterbrühl is also on the agenda. “Furthermore, we are already planning for our hundredth anniversary next year,” says Mikulitsch. There should definitely be a big party. A long-term project is the increased cooperation with the Paddelverein Hainburg: “So that we can get more out on the water again, we call ourselves Sea Scouts”.

As part of the celebration, Josef Hartberger was bid farewell and honored as supervisor of the Boy Scout Home in the Ungartor. He had spent 19 years making sure all the facilities were working properly, as well as groups wanting to rent the space. The scouts have three rooms in the Ungartor. There is also a kitchen, toilets and showers. The home is also available for other scout groups who want to stay overnight in Hainburg. Hartberger’s tasks are now being taken over by deputy chairman Arnold Weisz: “Now I’ll make sure that the home of the sea pathfinders is always in order.”
