Meeting-debate on Palestine in resistance

What resistance for the Palestinian people? This is the theme of this meeting organized on Saturday by the Var association for peace and justice in the Mediterranean with the support of the Federation of lay works of the Var (FOL 83).

Arbitrariness of the Israeli administration. Unpunished violence by settlers and the Israeli army. Deadly blockade of Gaza. Progress of colonization in the West Bank and East Jerusalem … Palestinians are subject to an upsurge in attacks aimed at delegitimizing them.

More recent in this delegitimization strategy, the installation by the United States of its embassy in Jerusalem or the formalization of Israel’s agreements with certain Arab countries through the “Abraham Accords”.

But far from weakening their resolve, the Palestinians are developing different forms of resistance to regain their rights to self-determination, freedom and dignity.

What are these forms of resistance? What power relations do they create? What perspectives do they open up? It is to these questions and to many others that the participants in this meeting-debate will try to answer. First through the screening (at 4 p.m.) of Amer Shomali and Paul Cowan’s film 18 fugitives, the cows of the intifada. Welcome at 6 p.m. and debate with Olivier Pironet, journalist at Diplomatic world, who knows the area well, having carried out numerous surveys there in recent years. A festive and convivial moment will close the meeting around a buffet (reservation required) tea, pastry, book space …

Saturday from 3.30 p.m. at the Hélice, FOL, 68, boulevard Agostini in Toulon. Reservations and information at 06.88.87.14.97
