A forward with a € 30 million rating linked to a January move to Tottenham or Everton has been confirmed to have started talks “officially” about his future, according to a trusted source.
In recent weeks, the leader of Italy Lorenzo Insigne has become a winter window target for Tottenham and Everton. The 30-year-old Euro 2020 winner is in the final year of his contract with Napoli. As such, the door is ajar for the cash-rich Premier League vultures to pounce in January.
Napoli’s owner, Aurelio De Laurentiis, was denounced in August values the tiny attacker at around 30 million euros.
Until recently, it was understood that Insigne had not entered into negotiations to extend his stay in Naples. That led to renewed optimism Insigne could travel to England on Monday when a Italian report pointed to Spurs and Everton to duel for his signature.
Tottenham was reported to have been a longtime admirer of Insigne from the days of Mauricio Pochettino in North London.
Everton, meanwhile, could have an advantage in any race thanks to Rafael Benítez. The Spaniard managed Insigne during his time as Napoli manager.
However, the latest from trust transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has suggested that both parties might be disappointed.
Romano tweeted that a meeting between Insigne and De Laurentiis took place today. The main focus of the meeting was the late opening of negotiations on the extension of the Insigne contract in Naples.
Romano said the talks have been “officially opened.” And while that doesn’t necessarily mean a breakthrough will be made, it’s also not a welcome update for would-be suitors.

‘Bottom of everything’ – Tottenham ax bent Nuno
Meanwhile, Daniel Levy is lucky to end Nuno Espirito Santo’s brief reign at Tottenham, if Aston Villa walks away from North London with all three points on Sunday.
Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has stated that Levy is ready to wield the ax. He told GiveMeSport that a loss to Villa could be the last straw for Levy, saying: “I was talking to my colleague Dharmesh Sheth and I told him I think he will go if they lose to Villa and he said ‘you’re crazy.’
“I am not because it is not just the losses, they are really bad losses and they are shameful.
“Statistics, possession and everything, are the bottom line of everything. How can you be at the bottom of everything? They are behind Norwich in expected shots. It’s terrible.
“I think maybe, knowing Levy like we do, he might have thought it’s a two-year deal, it’ll cost a couple million, but it hasn’t worked, I have an idea.”
